On 14th September 2015, speaking at a function about her ministry’s role in women’s issues, Indian Union Minister, Maneka Gandhi, who heads the “Women and Child Development Ministry”, made an insensitive and a derogatory statement targeted against men.
“The role of men in gender sensitization was the most critical since “all the violence is male-generated. We have introduced (the concept of) ‘Gender Champions’ in schools, under which boys who have been respectful and helpful to girls will be rewarded”.
It should be pertinent and not-at-all-out of-place reminder here that this is not the first time, there has been an institutional and state sponsored attack on men denigrating them. It’s just one of those attacks in series which regularly happen on men and there is an eerie silence of criticism against such statements, courtesy, the inherent internal misandry in each and every single human being.
Way back in 2008-09, former Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Smt. Renuka Choudhary, launched one after another offensive social meme targeted against men such as,
- Domestic Violence Act is Diwali gift to women.
- I will teach men what their mothers didn’t teach them.
- It’s time for men to suffer.
- Trust condoms, do not trust men.
- All male parliamentarians are male chauvinist pigs.
It’s not uncommon for such social missiles to be launched on men by women in position. However, the ironical part is the social validation, acceptance, immunity and support such abusive women enjoy. They also resort to playing the convenient victim card at choice when confronted about their vicious views. This silence by society is acting as a catalyst to discrimination against men, who live in a world that hates them yet do enough to build the world.
We do get a lot of reporting about violence by men and assuming it happens, has anyone ever bothered to find out the root cause behind it?
Are men violent by nature?
Or is it the oppressive social structures that force and corner men into committing violence?
And is it not this violent streak of men for which they get hired in armed forces for which billions of dollars are spent every year by every nation on this planet? So much for violent men?
Anyways, let us try and understand why men become violent? They do so because of societal conditioning. Since childhood, boys are taught to bottle up their emotions, pain and “man up”. It’s taught to them that it is unmanly to be weak and vulnerable and they are also encouraged to be violent, but on society’s terms and conditions and they must do violence in order to protect others (especially women). If they do not do so, they are termed unmanly and all social privileges are taken away from them. So, it’s social discrimination that turns men violent and later they are blamed for it – double whammy for them. So, even, if men commit violence, there’s a reason for that and that reason is society.
But, why do women commit violence?
- Nobody asks them to be protectors.
- Nobody asks them to bottle their emotions up.
- Nobody calls them “unwomanly” for not sacrificing themselves for others.
This proves that women commit violence out of choice and no compulsion. Also, women initiate violence by provoking men with their nagging tongue.
Finally, violence committed by men to protect women is also society induced. So, in reality, its women who generate violence – either directly or indirectly and not men.
Hence, this statement by Maneka Gandhi is purely unfounded and baseless that violence is male generated. Maneka Gandhi just proved her late mother-in-law Indira Gandhi correct when she was driven out of home by Indira. Maneka deserved it. No one can tolerate such an abusive daughter-in-law who spews venom at the drop of a hat.
The men’s rights activists in India have taken up cudgels against this abusive Union minister for spewing venom and have started a trend on twitter with the hashtag #ShutUpManeka on twitter.
However, the saddening part is that the Indian Govt. has failed to take any action against her for her sexist anti-male remarks and worse, the mainstream media is supporting her and justifying her.
Such a lackadaisical attitude towards men is what justifies the need for a movement like MGTOW (pronounced as MigTow) which stands for “Men Going Their Own Way” wherein men simply do not resort to any social norms and do not enter into any kind of relationship with women and they do whatever they like with their life.
The way things are going; MGTOW is going to be the future for civilizations. Women and children would be begging on streets whilst no man would care and for that hater mongers and male haters like Maneka Gandhi would be directly responsible.
