Selective Humanity – Are you hearing this for the first time? Do not know what it means? Or ever done that? I call it Selective humanity when one condemns killing/punishing/showing inequality to a person merely on the basis of his/her caste/religion or fake rumor but, at the same time, promotes killing/punishing/showing inequality merely on the basis of a news/social media post.
Let me try to explain. Have your ever said any of the following words merely on reading a presstitute media report or a unverified post on social media?
- Severely punish the bastard
- Kill him
- Hang him
- Need capital punishment
- Shoot in middle of road
- Cut his private parts as done in other countries
- Lynch him
- Hand over to us
- Why trial? Need justice on the spot!
- Etc etc etc…….
Then you are the one with selective humanity because you may have not liked Dadri killing of a innocent man, burning of a Dalit family, killing of a man in Karnataka, beating a woman if she was a criminal etc but promoted same acts in other incidents of your choice.
Selective Humanity is nothing but having fake tears, fake emotions, fake feelings for selective people but having anger, hatred, and violence for others. Because the mass who killed that man just did the same as a result of you feeding them with other incidents based on a rumor, or news, or a SMS may be.
Nowadays, every other person has become a Judge with new technology and social media. They want to decide, want to send a message to the society, want to provide justice to ‘victims’ but immediately without delays. What they forget is that neither they are qualified, nor they are capable of being a judge nor they have done anything substantial to do so. An immature personality would want to remove crime and criminals from society without understanding the basics of criminology and why a person becomes so, why a individual does crime, what is there is his mind, etc.
For example, Raju, a garbage picker at the age of 15 years, got molested at age of 8 years but couldn’t share with anyone, never been to a school, had a terrible childhood of abusive parents, was beaten by many, made to eat stale food of dogs, was never even told what means good or what means bad for society or for himself. What do you expect him to do at age of 15 years with no job, no money to eat and still leading a life which is worse than a rich family pet? A civilized citizen or a pathetic criminal? Have you ever thought what society gave him? When he becomes a criminal, doesn’t he just give back what the society gave him? Remember an old saying “You reap what you sow”.
Another example, Mahesh an IITian, very handsome, earns well and works in a reputed organization, kills his wife one day. Media reports “A ruthless man killed his wife by stabbing her”, social judges will start posting – ‘He must be punished’,’Hang him’ or may be ‘Lynch him’ without knowing his past or what he would have gone through. It is possible that on a mere conflict with his wife, she would have filed dowry, domestic violence, unnatural sex cases. He might be harassed by women NGOs, women police stations, abused by lawyers, sent to jail by biased judiciary as he didn’t settle his case. He didn’t have anyone who would listen to him and help in society so what choices did he have? – “Kill himself” or “kill wife” or “continue harassment”.
We want to improve society without doing anything for it. In spite of being a judge for a situation or a case or a mere critic, if one decides to help and contribute to society and help a distraught person who can become a criminal in future, one can build a better society.
It is easy to say or write or suggest that being judgmental was by force because it was heinous crime or enough is enough but if one wants to give a real better world to next generation, one needs to think beyond those headlines, those posts or those crimes and become a better human before becoming a bad judge. It is one’s choice to show selective humanity rather than a positive force.
